counting your blessings

i have so many blessings in my life, it is hard to count. in the current state of affairs in the united states many are focusing on the negative. we are in a state of panic about where our nation is headed, and we should be. daily we are sabotaged by the media and others by what we don't have in our lives. sooner or later each one of us has to realize that we have been blessed in the united states. our idea that we need more is just an idea.

this week i encourage you to think about your many blessings; the small and the big.

my greatest blessing is that i accepted CHRIST. my second is that i am able to read HIS words. i am blessed to have a husband that loves me. i am blessed to have 2 children. i am blessed that i have MS, because it has made me a better person. these are the big blessings in my life.

we sometimes forget to count the small. i think about the chore of loading and emptying the dishwasher. i should not hate this, because this means that i food to nourish me. i should not hate doing laundry, because this means i have clothing to clothe my body. i should not hate cleaning my home, because this means i have shelter. i have been thinking of these things as burdens, and not as blessings. instead of complaining about them i should be thanking GOD that i have these things.

wanting more of things is not going to solve our problems. we have to learn to fix the problems that we already have so that we can have a richer life. no where in the bible does is say that you should have a bigger home, a luxury car, designer clothes, or the best technology. those are all wants, not needs. if you have those things because you think you deserve them, those are things that GOD has blessed you with. THANK HIM AND BE GRATEFUL!

by far, we take too many things for granted. we no longer just cherish the things we that we have, we just want more and more. why? instead of praying to GOD for more, praise GOD for what you already have. if you have more than you need then think about those that don't. open your refrigerator and look at your food. go to your closet and look at your clothes. go into the street and stare at your home.

i am blessed that i have the ability to write, that i was taught this in school. i am blessed to be able to share GOD's truth with others, whether they are believers or not. i have been blessed that have a family that supports me and reads my words. i am blessed to have friends that love me and take the time out of their lives to even read a paragraph of this blog. this blog is becoming a blessing in my life.

think about your blessings, write them down, share them! be thankful for what HE has given you; the small and the big.

"all these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD YOUR GOD: you will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. the fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock - the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. you will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out." deuteronomy 28:2-6
